UNHCR donates to Justice Ministry
The United
Nations Refugees Agency (UNHCR) has donated a consignment of equipment worth
nearly forty eight thousand United States Dollars (48,000) to the Ministry of
Justice.
The
consignment of equipment includes computers, Printers, desks, chairs, papers
among others.
Making the
presentation, the UNHCR Officer- in- Charge, Sharon Cooper, said the
consignment of equipment is intended to enhance the work of County Attorneys in
some of Liberia’s fifteen counties.
“These
equipments would make the work of County Attorneys more efficient, effective
and timely, “Miss Cooper said.
She said,
with the equipment which are much needed, County Attorneys can also assess the internet
to do research work.
“As a lawyer
myself, it is my pleasure to see the Justice System improved,” she stated.
Miss Cooper
added by urging that refugees on Liberian soil must have access to justice like
Liberians themselves.
For his
part, Justice Minister Philip Banks, who received the donated equipment, said
the equipment would go a long way in strengthening the justice system.
Cllr. Banks
thanked the UNHCR, which he said, is a partner in progress. He assured that the
equipment would be used for its intended purpose.
