UNDP/UNMC awards grant to LUEHW
Liberia
United to expose Hidden Weapons (LUEHW) has been awarded a grant worth five thousand United States Dollars
(US$5,000.00) for the implementation of a Millennium Development Goals (MDGS)
Awareness and Advocacy Project in
Liberia.
According to
a press release, the grant was awarded by the UNP/UN Millennium Campaign under
a Micro-Capital Grant Agreement between the two institutions. The grant
agreement, which covers the period 27 April – 31 December 2009, was signed
early this week by UNMC Director Salil Shetty on behalf of UNDP and LUEHW’s
Executive Director J. Kofa Torbor on behalf of
LUEHW.
Under the
project, LUEHW will mobilize and engage critical mass of civil society actors
at the grassroots level in debates, dialogues and media activities aimed at
promoting the Millennium, Development Goals (MDGs) and demanding better
policies and actions from the Liberian Government in favor of the MDGs.
LUEHW is a
small arms control advocacy campaign group dedicated to the promotion of
national and regional peace, security and sustainable development.
